"This site is gorgeous! I love the old photos displayed throughout, and right from the first page a visitor will see that the site is very well thought out and tastefully designed. The site is quick to load in the web browser and has a very efficient layout...." (Reviewed by Cyndi Howells in Mar/Apr 1998: 35).
DNA Surname Projects
Males in my West family participate in the West Surname DNA Project. Please participate to try to find more West lines you are related to. It's one approach to help break those brick walls we all have. You might even be related to us! (more)
A Quick Thanks
Thanks to Gordon Mackay for sharing his excellent template.
welcome
My goal is to share documented genealogical information, including the following: original Bible records, wills and obituaries, marriage records, and ancestor sketches and places. Old family photos are included in the files.
These files are available to download on the family records page. [Go here to download Adobe® Acrobat Reader®.]
Please consider joining a DNA surname project!
A new book, Shadrach and Hopey Rogers and Family, by William M. Brown, is available from the author. Shadrach and Hopey Rogers moved to Mississippi about 1818 from South Carolina. If you are a descendant, you don't want to miss this 1,000+ page, carefully documented book.
Karen West Scott's book on the family history and descendants of William Nelson West (1775-1846) is a must for West researchers in my line.
west surname - dna matches
Participants from my West line and another West line matched on 25/25 markers in a Y-DNA test. We had previously not known the two families were related. Now we're doing the hard work of trying to find our link through a paper trail. We are Family Group 18. Please see our new website for this group.
genealogy standards & guidelines
The National Genealogical Society has an excellent standards and guidelines available on its website.
If you are new to genealogy, or even if you are an old hand, please take a few minutes to read through these guidelines, especially those on sound genealogy research, sharing information with others, and publishing web pages on the Internet.
sharing information
I'm always happy to share family information, as so many people have done with me. However, before using material I have compiled, please ask me for permission before you send my research and my family's information to a third party. It's only polite (and ethical).
